ByteDance Networking is seeking an experienced Network Operations professional to join our global team in maintaining high-availability, scalable network services across backbone, data centers, and cloud environments. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in network operations, support, or engineering.
• Strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, and MPLS.
• Ownership mindset with ability to troubleshoot and resolve incidents during outages.
• Excellent communication and cross‑regional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key engineer for ByteDance's global network incident response and operational stability.
• Support day-to-day operations of the global network infrastructure, including backbone, data centers, cloud, Edge/CDN, and network gateways.
• Collaborate with 24x7 NOC and cross-functional teams across multiple time zones to ensure 24x7 operations.
• Improve tooling, monitoring platforms, and automation to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors and internal teams to diagnose issues, perform RCA, and drive remediation.
• Assist in network maintenance, change management, and post-change monitoring.

About the Team

ByteDance Networking is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable network experience in multiple areas on a massive scale.

• - Act as a key engineer responsible for ByteDance's global network incident response and operational stability, including backbone, data center, public cloud, Edge/CDN and Network GWs.
• - Support the day-to-day operations of the Non-CN global network infrastructure and responder for network incidents and emergencies, leading troubleshooting, mitigation, and service restoration during network failures.
• - Partner with the 24*7 NOC team as a second-line (L2) operations engineer, collaborating with engineers across multiple time zones to ensure continuous 24*7 global network operations.
• - Collaborate with network architecture, deployment, and software engineering teams to improve operational tooling, monitoring platforms, and automation systems.
• - Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and internal engineering teams to diagnose and resolve network issues as well as conduct post-incident root cause analysis (RCA) and drive remediation to prevent recurrence.
• - Support network maintenance and change activities, including operational checks and post-change monitoring.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s)

• - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• - 5+ years of experience in network operations, network support, or network engineering.
• - Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS related technologies.
• - Strong sense of ownership with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, including timely response during critical outages.
• - Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global teams.

Preferred Qualification(s)

• - Experience working in large-scale data center networks, cloud infrastructure, OTT platforms, or ISP environments.
• - Experience in incident management, operational process optimization, and network troubleshooting.
• - Experience working with network vendors, ISPs, and service providers.
• - Familiarity with network automation tools or scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
