Senior MES & Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Job summary

Illumina is seeking an experienced software professional to design, develop, and maintain manufacturing software integrating with MES systems. You will support automation initiatives, develop operational reports, and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance across processes.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Computing/Engineering, 5+ years in software development, and experience with MES (Camstar) and Java/.NET. Knowledge of SCRUM and quality standards (FDA cGMP/ISO) is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related degree in Computing or Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in software development, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Experience in developing and maintaining software using Java or .NET languages.
• Experience with MES systems, especially Camstar, is a plus.
• Familiarity with SECS/GEM, OPC, TCP/IP and Modbus TCP protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; knowledge of Software Life Cycle Management.
• Experience with SCRUM framework is beneficial; knowledge of FDA cGMP/ISO quality systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Gather user requirements from Manufacturing, Process and Product teams to map existing processes for automation.
• Integrate automation solutions with MES to enforce process flow and data integrity.
• Recommend improvements to applications/systems to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain and enhance existing solutions.
• Investigate, resolve and improve solutions to meet higher quality standards.
• Develop test plans, cases and scripts covering various scenarios.
• Present project plans and updates to stakeholders; ensure documentation standards are met.
• Provide timely support to troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to applications and MES integration.
