Job summary

Illumina Singapore seeks a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer 2 to lead sustaining efforts for high‑volume smart manufacturing equipment. You will define preventive maintenance across optical, mechanical, electrical, and fluidics systems, aiming to increase uptime and reliability.

You will coach Technicians and Engineer I staff to elevate skills and performance. As a senior technical contributor, you will drive continuous improvement, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and safeguard cGMP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience for Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years for Diploma in manufacturing/production.
• Experience in GMP controlled manufacturing/production environment.
• Advanced understanding of Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Pneumatic systems.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, Quality, safety instructions and practices.
• Good project management skills.
• Experience troubleshooting analytical instruments (UPLC, Microplate reader, qPCR), liquid handler automation, lab equipment (plate centrifuges, thermomixer, biosafety cabinets) and HMI automation.
• Experience in designing automatic control systems is advantageous.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs (Beckhoff or Allen-Bradley) is advantageous.
• Experience in engineering drawings.
• Safety, accuracy, and integrity in task execution.
• Ability to multitask and rotate jobs; willingness to work shifts.
• Able to lift up to 15 kg; PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Complete required training (cGMP, safety, work instructions).
• Execute tasks following cGMP, Quality, Safety and Work instructions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies.
• Maintain housekeeping and 6S standards.
• Meet daily production schedule and performance targets.
• Lead and mentor technicians and engineers; provide guidance.
• Identify opportunities for equipment maintenance improvements.
• Coordinate and prioritize activities to meet production goals.
• Develop on-the-job training for technicians.
• Support automation and PLC troubleshooting initiatives.
