Job summary

Exyte is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive design from concept through to handover, ensuring sustainability targets are embedded in the project. You will produce tender documentation, liaise with QA/QC, and mentor junior engineers to build a skilled, scalable team.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years' design and construction experience across mechanical systems, and will involve leading design reviews and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
• At least 10 years of design and construction experience
• Technical competence across the full range of Mechanical Systems

Responsibilities

• Taking the conceptual design through to implementation and handover.
• Ensuring sustainability targets are incorporated into the design.
• Producing the tender documentation, including project specifications and contract schedules such as Summary of Tender and Schedule of Rates.
• Progressing the design in accordance with the Design Checklist.
• Chairing Sub-contractor progress meetings.
• Chairing Mechanical Department Client weekly Meetings.
• Liaising with Quality Assurance / Quality Compliance Engineers to ensure alignment with specifications.
• Mentoring of an Engineer to ensure properly trained personnel for expansion of the company.
• Ensuring each System Supervisor has current shop and space management drawings.
• In absence of a Project Lead Engineer, the Senior Engineer assumes Lead Engineer responsibilities.
