Job summary

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement seeks a Marine Superintendent to ensure safe, compliant vessel operations and act as a bridge between ship and shore. You will guide Masters on voyages, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining certifications.

The role requires a Master Mariner with 3+ years sailing as Master/Senior Officer and at least 3 years in shore vessel management, preferably on VLGC/VLEC vessels; strong leadership and safety culture are essential.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner qualification required.
• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve safety, security, and voyage efficiency; act on audits and incidents.
• Provide operational and commercial guidance to Masters for voyage orders, port limits, navigation risks, and security threats.
• Manage relationships with owners and charterers; respond to operational inquiries and complaints.
• Ensure compliance with international regulations, Class, Flag State, and Port State requirements.
• Act as Company Security Officer and support during vettings, audits, and inspections; drive corrective actions.
• Prepare reports and statistics on vessel performance with relevant teams.
• Conduct appraisals and training for sea staff during ship visits; identify training needs.
