Job summary

UNIX LINE PTE LTD is seeking a Senior Master Mariner to ensure certification validity, lead onboard and shore-based audits, and manage vessel performance and compliance across tanker operations.

The role requires a Class 1 COC and substantial seagoing or supervision experience in parcel chemical tankers, with responsibilities spanning audits, inspections, crew training, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• ISM/ISPS/MLC certification and documentation must be kept valid for assigned vessels.
• Onboard audits and inspections to be conducted and findings reported to management.
• SIRE, CDI, NON-SIRE and terminal inspections to be completed promptly with follow-up on observations.
• Responses to PSC deficiencies and third-party findings to be prepared and closed out satisfactorily.
• Promptly respond to charterers’ queries and maintain updated HVPQ, Q88, crew matrix and related documents.
• Monitor vessel operations, cargo handling, tank cleaning and compliance with charterers’ voyage orders, providing technical guidance to Masters.
• Monitor marine, safety, environmental and quality performance, ensuring deficiencies are rectified and QHSEMS/SMS requirements are implemented.
• Conduct and support onboard and shore-based crew training, and perform senior officers’ performance appraisals.
• Review vessel reports, investigate incidents and near misses, establish root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Liaise with commercial operators and relevant stakeholders, assist the DPA, and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

Job description

1. Maintain valid ISM/ISPS/MLC certification and documentation for assigned vessels, including internal and external audits.

2. Conduct onboard audits and inspections as required and report findings to management.

3. Ensure timely completion of SIRE, CDI, NON-SIRE and terminal inspections, including follow-up on observations.

4. Prepare responses to PSC deficiencies and third-party inspection findings, ensuring satisfactory close-out.

5. Respond promptly to charterers’ queries and maintain updated HVPQ, Q88, crew matrix and related documents.

6. Monitor vessel operations, cargo handling, tank cleaning and compliance with charterers’ voyage orders, providing technical guidance to Masters.
