- Support the alignment of internal and external audit workplans to ensure adequate and coordinated coverage of high-risk areas.
- Analyse findings and observations to identify systemic trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for strengthening the organisation's control environment.

- Support the timely resolution of audit findings and the validation of remediation actions to ensure control weaknesses are addressed effectively and sustainably.
- Process and Governance Reviews
- Support reviews of operational processes, IT systems, and governance frameworks to assess control effectiveness and recommend meaningful improvements.
- Assist business functions with policy and procedures implementation, providing practical guidance on risk and compliance requirements, including whole-of-government policies.
- Provide secretariat support to the Assurance Committee, ensuring proper documentation, follow-through on commitments, and timely escalation of key issues.
- Advisory and Assurance
- Provide advisory support to business functions on audit, risk, and compliance matters, serving as a reliable resource for operational teams navigating governance and control requirements.
- Review trends and patterns in operational incidents, errors, and audit findings to identify systemic issues and recommend practical enhancements to processes and controls.
- Support the oversight of remediation efforts to ensure these address underlying root causes effectively and sustainably.
- Leverage data analytics to enhance the depth and timeliness of assurance insights delivered to senior management and governance bodies.
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Support organisation-wide risk identification and assessment, the development and review of risk registers, and the design of control and mitigation measures, ensuring these remain rigorous, consistent, and reflective of the organisation's evolving risk landscape.
- Assist in designing and facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessment frameworks.
- Assist in maintaining the Risk Incident Escalation Framework to ensure systematic incident reporting and effective management response.
- Provide secretariat support to the Risk Management Committee, contributing to informed decision-making and effective risk oversight at the senior leadership level.
- Independent IT Systems Reviews
- Support independent reviews of IT systems from a controls and governance perspective, contributing to objective assessments of whether IT controls and governance arrangements remain adequate and aligned with organisational risk and compliance requirements.
- Assist in the validation of system access controls and user permission matrices.
- Review system workflows and approval mechanisms to ensure these operate as intended and support sound governance outcomes.
- Quality Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support the implementation and maintenance of VITAL's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Coordinate process improvement initiatives and strengthen documentation standards to drive tangible and sustained improvements in organisational performance.
- Assist in coordinating organisation-wide efforts to attain and uphold the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Provide secretariat support to the ISO Management Committee, ensuring effective oversight and accountability for quality management commitments.
- Capability Building & Governance Support
- Contribute to the implementation of quality and risk management knowledge and competency frameworks developed by the Assistant Director.
- Support organisation-wide initiatives to raise awareness and understanding of risk and quality management principles across all levels of the organisation.
- Assist in the development and delivery of guidance and resources that strengthen staff capability in risk management and quality management practices.
- Contribute to embedding risk awareness and accountability as organisational norms.
- Encourage colleagues to look beyond immediate issues, understand how their work connects to the broader organisation, and consider the wider impact of their decisions.
