Job summary

SAP Asia Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join a cross-functional team delivering Joule Platform services in Java, TypeScript, and Python. You will design scalable cloud solutions, mentor peers, and drive architectural decisions in a global, agile environment.

With 7+ years of software and cloud experience, you will influence product direction, collaborate with data scientists and DevOps, and ensure high-quality, performant solutions across time zones.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in cloud solutions and microservices.
• Hands-on experience as software/cloud architect and technical lead.
• Hands-on with agentic stack: LangChain, skills, evaluations, observability, MCP, A2A, ACP, and RAG.
• Cloud-native delivery in Python, TypeScript, or Java on SAP BTP or a hyperscaler with Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Strong API design, platform governance, security, observability, and enterprise integration patterns.

Responsibilities

Role

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will work together with a team of dedicated experts including data scientists, dev-ops engineers, and product owners with a single goal of building the best-in-class products for SAP. You will work against fixed timelines and your success will be measured by the ability to deliver solutions matching the performance of top-notch autonomous enterprise systems.

What you’ll do

Your tasks include:

• Design and build production-grade services for Joule Platform capabilities in Java, Typescript and Python.
• Explore, understand, and implement innovative technologies and approaches for cloud platform and data pipelines.
• Design and define ADR, ACD for the solution on new features or integrations.
• Drive engineering across Architecture, Implementation, Testing, and Delivery of the Product.
• Producing high-quality, maintainable code with an emphasis on modularity, testing, and performance
• Build strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Mentor junior engineers, performing code reviews, and contributing to a high-performance team culture.
• Represent architecture decisions and technical trade-offs to senior leadership, customers, partners, and the SAP developer community, and drive alignment across teams to ensure Joule Studio, AI Agent Runtime, SAP Business AI Platform
• Solving complex integration and performance challenges across systems, often working across time zones in a global team set

What you bring

Educational and experience requirements

Required

• Exceptional degree in computer science, software engineering, or related.
• 7+ years of related professional experience in software development, cloud solution and microservices.
• Strong experience as a software architect, cloud architect, senior technical lead, with a hands-on engineering background.
• Ability to translate product strategy, customer needs, and technical constraints into pragmatic architecture and guide teams through execution.
• Hands-on experience with the agentic stack: harness frameworks such as LangChain, skills, evaluations, observability, protocols such as MCP, A2A, ACP, and RAG.
• Cloud-native delivery experience in Python, TypeScript, or Java on SAP BTP or a hyperscaler, including Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Deep understanding of API design, platform governance, security, observability, and enterprise integration patterns. Experience in event-driven solution, and container patterns. Familiar to Kafka, Karate and Jmeter, Dynatrace.
• Experience in agile development/Scrum processes and cloud deliveries.
• A team-oriented and collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in team environments, contributing positively to shared goals and fostering a culture of cooperation and innovation.
• Excellent written and communication skills in the English language
