Job summary

SAP Labs Singapore is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead development of platform infrastructure, define best practices, and mentor peers. You will ensure high availability, security, and efficiency across AI-enabled systems.

Qualifications

• 7 to 11 years of software development experience, preferably in AI-focused cloud/container apps.
• Strong CS foundation: algorithms, data structures, OOP, design patterns, multi-threading, software design principles.
• Hands-on coding with Java, Go, Python.
• Experience building REST APIs using Spring, Flask, FastAPI, etc.
• DevOps experience with Docker & Kubernetes; cloud-native tools like Istio, Helm, etcd, Argo, Envoy.
• Experience with cloud-based app development on SAP BTP, AWS, Azure & GCP.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum; excellent English communication.

Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer / Platform Engineer, you will work together with a team of dedicated experts including AI scientists, data engineers, dev-ops engineers, and architects with a single goal of building the best-in-class AI products. You will work against fixed timelines and your success will be measured by the ability to deliver solutions matching the performance of top-notch artificial intelligence systems.

What you'll do

Your tasks include:

• Push the frontiers of what is possible in artificial intelligence to create new solutions.
• Explore, understand, and implement most recent technologies and approaches for cloud platform and data pipelines.
• Comfortably handle multi-terabyte data sets in scale-up and scale-out environments
• Design and develop a high-performance platform capable of handling and processing large volumes of requests efficiently.
• Strive for automation and cloud operation readiness.
• Understand business processes which create and consume data to be able to select best approaches, evaluate their performance and assess business relevance.
• Builds scalable and re-usable data processing pipelines.
• Create excellence both in terms of results quality and system scalability through continuous evaluation, analysis, and refinement of the system implementation.
• Work closely with the team, customers, and partners to holistically understand business and user requirements and derive adequate application development concepts.
• Performing quality assurance tasks and solving complex integration issues.
• Ability to work in global teams with different time zones.
• Immerse yourself quickly into new topics, terminology, and development tasks.

What you bring

Required

• 7 to 11 years of working experience as a software developer, preferably in AI-focused cloud/container application development.
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in algorithms, data structures, objects-oriented programming, design patterns, multi-threaded programming, and software design principles.
• Strong coding development and debugging skills, including hands-on experience with Java, Go, and Python.
• Hands-on experience in developing REST APIs using frameworks such as Spring, Flask, FastAPI, etc.
• Experience working with DevOps including but not limited to container technologies like Docker & Kubernetes, as well as Cloud Native technology stack such as Istio, Helm, etcd, Argo, and Envoy.
• Experience with cloud-based application development using platforms such as SAPs business technology platform, AWS, Azure & GCP.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent written and communication skills in English language.

Optional

• Familiar with LLM and supporting tools such as LangChain.
• Familiar with AIOps.
• Passionate to contribute to open-source projects.
