Job summary

Standard Chartered SABRE is the Analytics Booking and Risk Engine, the strategic risk and PnL platform for Financial Markets. The successful candidate will build scalable Java components for the SABRE Market Risk Platform, delivering robust solutions to meet evolving business needs.

You will work in a global, agile team, owning critical components, driving requirements, and ensuring maintainable, high-performance systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands on development with investment banking IT experience.
• Strong Java development experience in a performance focused concurrent environment.
• Proven experience in backend service development, including service design, API implementation, integration pattern and building reliable, maintainable, and scalable distributed systems
• Good understanding of relational databases (both row-based and column-based database)
• Experience in time-series data storage and query patterns, specially for large-volume historical and intraday financial data
• Hands-on experience with HTTP/HTTPS service development, RESTful APIs and real-time communication technologies such as WebSocket.
• Familiar with containerization and deployment practices, including Docker and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Bash, Shell or Python scripting is essential
• Experience with the Real time market data sourcing from Bloomberg, LSEG and Exchangers is a plus
• Development experience on functional language, such as Haskell, is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Development Manager, Project Manager, and a team of developers to deliver Java components to internal business users
• Demonstrate a systematic and disciplined architectural, system design and programming approach
• Deeply passionate about best-practice software design principles, you will write robust code along with a high-level of test coverage
• Self-starter who can drive/facilitate requirements and development effort
• Design smart and scalable solutions following the bank standards
• Coordinate with other teams in Technology
• Develop, prepare and maintain system documentation, including program descriptions and operational procedures
• Act as the second line of support during production problems.
