Job summary

Ministry of Defence of Singapore is seeking a Human Factor Engineer to ensure soldier systems are ergonomically designed and well integrated, enhancing performance and user experience. You will apply HFE domain expertise across acquisition, design, development, and test and evaluation stages.

Responsibilities include reviewing designs, designing tests, analyzing results, and driving cross-functional collaboration with operations and academia to advance human performance research and trials.

Qualifications

• Education in Human Factor Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years applying HFE knowledge in product design and in designing tests to identify human factor issues.
• Strong network among HFE practitioners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to attend overseas seminars and conferences.
• Experience conducting tests in both laboratory and field settings.

What The Role Is

You play a pivotal role in ensuring that every soldier is equipped with ergonomically designed equipment that is well integrated and optimises their performance, by providing Human Factor Engineering (HFE) domain expertise for all soldier systems acquisition, design, development, and test and evaluations.

You play a pivotal role in ensuring that every soldier is equipped with ergonomically designed equipment that is well integrated and optimises their performance, by providing Human Factor Engineering (HFE) domain expertise for all soldier systems acquisition, design, development, and test and evaluations.

What You Will Be Working On

• Review the design of various soldier systems and provide specialist input for improvements
• Design Test and Evaluations to identify human factor issues across a range of soldier systems
• Analyse Test and Evaluation results to optimise human-system integration and enhance soldiers' performance and experience
• Develop and conduct periodic reviews of HFE matrices for soldier systems
• Work with the Defence Technology Community and tertiary institutions to drive Human Performance Research studies and trials
  
  Challenge(s)
• Applying HFE knowledge in a military and Army context which is relatively niche, with limited directly relevant references to draw upon
• Collaborating closely with operational stakeholders to accurately assess and identify human factor issues for soldier systems
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• Education in Human Factor Engineering or a related field
• At least 6 years of experience applying HFE knowledge in product design, and in designing test and evaluations to identify human factor issues
• Good network amongst HFE practitioners in the field
