Job summary

China Communications Construction Company Limited (Singapore Branch) seeks an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to oversee geotechnical design, site supervision, and instrumentation monitoring for major infrastructure projects in Singapore. You will coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in construction supervision of geotechnical works for projects of similar scale, complexity and nature.
• Experience in LTA projects, MRT, tunnelling, deep excavation, shafts or other major infrastructure projects in Singapore.
• Strong knowledge in geotechnical design, analysis, construction supervision, instrumentation, and monitoring.
• Experience in deep excavation, tunnels, foundations, slopes, ground improvement, or temporary works would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with Clients, Consultants, Contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical analysis, soil classification, data analysis, and interpretation of instrumentation works to ensure accurate project planning.
• Identify soil/rock samples and prepare and submit reports and summary on site conditions.
• Compare, review, manage records to ensure all survey equipment has a valid calibration certificate.
• Submit progress reports, technical reports, and assessments on geotechnical issues encountered on-site.
• Read, review, and interpret project drawings, specifications, and design requirements, and highlight discrepancies, ensuring adherence to codes and standards.
• Prepare daily report of tasks completion progress on site.
• Attend design and weekly meetings.
• Attend internal coordination meetings with subcontractors/suppliers.
• Attend daily tool box meeting and pre-start meeting.
• Propose instrumentation and monitoring schemes to ensure safety and stability of structures.
• Work closely with design consultants and tender teams to develop efficient and cost-effective geotechnical solutions.
• Conduct site inspections with Client, QPS/RE/RTO on site and close the RFI comments.
• Review design reports and drawings prepared by design consultants to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Provide geotechnical support during construction phases by recommending site modifications and monitoring execution of geotechnical solutions.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential geotechnical hazards and develop mitigation plans.
• Ensure all geotechnical activities comply with local regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor all instrumentation readings and report to management any abnormal readings.
• Liaise with government agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties and assignments as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, recognised by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), or a qualification acceptable to the Commissioner of Building Control.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in construction supervision of geotechnical works for projects of similar scale, complexity, and nature.
• Experience in LTA projects, MRT, tunnelling, deep excavation, shafts, or other major infrastructure projects in Singapore will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical design, analysis, construction supervision, instrumentation, and monitoring.
• Experience in deep excavation, tunnels, foundations, slopes, ground improvement, and/or temporary works will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical assessment skills.
• Good knowledge of Singapore's relevant statutory requirements, regulations, Codes of Practice, and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Able to work independently, take ownership of technical matters, and operate effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
