Applied Materials South East Asia Pte Ltd seeks an experienced Senior FEA Modeling Engineer to lead complex thermo-mechanical simulations impacting package architecture, materials, and reliability strategies. You will define high-fidelity models, drive validation plans, and deliver actionable recommendations.

With 5+ years in industry, you will mentor junior engineers, coordinate cross-functionally, and contribute to technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mechanics, Applied Physics, or related field.
• At least five years of industrial experience in thermal-mechanical FEA, preferably in semiconductor packaging or related field.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL or equivalent FEA platforms, including nonlinear and temperature-dependent material modeling.
• Strong knowledge of advanced packaging architectures and processes.
• Understanding of polymers, metals, ceramics, and their thermo-mechanical behavior.
• Proven ability to validate models and communicate technical results clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently define, develop, validate, and deploy high-fidelity FEA models for advanced semiconductor package technologies.
• Lead thermo-mechanical reliability modeling to predict package performance and failure risks under manufacturing, qualification, and operating conditions.
• Lead thermal-mechanical analyses of stress, strain, warpage, delamination risk, and interfacial behavior across multiple package architectures.
• Develop thermal and multi-physics models to guide package design and cooling concepts.
• Translate questions into simulation requirements, model hierarchies, validation plans, and outputs.
• Plan and execute sensitivity analyses, DoE studies, optimization, and uncertainty assessments.
• Correlate models with metrology, material characterization, and reliability testing; calibrate models and quantify limitations.
• Provide clear recommendations to design, process, reliability, manufacturing, and customers; include risk statements and validation actions.
• Own simulation workflows and technical reviews; ensure model quality and timely delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive automation, standardization, and reuse.
• Support technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging materials and interconnects.
