Job summary

SJ Group is seeking an experienced Senior Executive Engineer to support coastal, marine and infrastructure projects within the Construction & Management Unit in Singapore. The role blends office-based technical work with practical site exposure, including supervision, contract admin and stakeholder engagement.

The candidate will mentor junior engineers and advance towards project management responsibilities, with broader duties across site and office environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, recognized by relevant bodies.
• Minimum five years of experience in engineering design, construction supervision or project delivery.
• Experience in coastal, marine, geotechnical, structural, reclamation or infrastructure projects.
• Eligible for registration with IES as a Resident Engineer when assigned.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor assigned construction work scopes.
• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day project delivery.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants and authorities on technical and site matters.
• Review contractors' submissions including method statements, shop drawings and proposals.
• Monitor progress, quality and compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Attend site inspections, meetings and project coordination discussions.
• Identify and resolve technical, construction and interface issues.
• Prepare and review progress reports, site records and project documentation.
• Assist in contract administration including claims, variations and extensions.
• Monitor materials delivery and project activities.
• Prepare meeting materials and maintain minutes; guide junior engineers.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Executive Engineer to join our Construction & Management Unit (CMU).

The successful candidate will support the delivery of coastal, marine and infrastructure projects and independently manage assigned work scopes. The role combines office-based technical and project work with practical site exposure, including construction coordination, technical review, site supervision, contract administration and stakeholder engagement.

This position is suitable for engineers who are ready to take on greater project responsibilities, guide junior team members and develop towards future Project Manager roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor assigned construction work scopes.
• Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day management and delivery of projects.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, authorities and project stakeholders on technical and site matters.
• Review contractors’ technical submissions, including method statements, shop drawings, material submissions and construction proposals.
• Monitor construction progress, quality and compliance with approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
• Participate in site inspections, testing, technical meetings and project coordination discussions.
• Identify and assist in resolving technical, construction and interface issues.
• Prepare and review progress reports, site records, technical correspondence and project documentation.
• Support contract administration matters, including progress claims, variations, extension-of-time submissions and contractual correspondence.
• Monitor the progress and delivery of construction materials and assigned project activities.
• Prepare meeting materials, attend project meetings, write and maintain project minutes of meetings.
• Guide junior engineers and site staff in carrying out assigned tasks and following up on project actions.
• Use project information and digital tools to support progress monitoring, reporting and decision-making.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through to completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline recognized by relevant professional bodies (e.g. BCA, IES, ACES, PE Board).
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in engineering design, construction supervision or project delivery.
• Relevant experience in coastal, marine, geotechnical, structural, reclamation or infrastructure projects.
• Eligible for registration with IES as a Resident Engineer (RE) and perform the RE role when assigned.
• Able to independently manage assigned work scopes and coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, method statements and construction documentation.
• Good technical judgement, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Responsible, proactive and able to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience in contract administration, progress assessment, technical review or supervision of construction works will be an advantage.
• Experience in soil improvement, reclamation filling, geotechnical instrumentation, drainage, revetment or slope protection works will be an advantage
