Job summary

STMicroelectronics Asia Pacific Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an Equipment/Field Service Engineer to own assigned tools, ensure uptime, and drive maintenance.

You’ll plan preventive maintenance, perform complex troubleshooting, coordinate with vendors, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve yield.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 2 years in semiconductor equipment, with strong analytical and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of Equipment/Field Service experience in semiconductor.
  • Familiar with Trymax, Axcelis, Gasonic or Mattson tools.
  • Proactive and adaptable with strong learning agility and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize equipment uptime and performance.
  • Plan preventive maintenance and lead root-cause analyses for issues.
  • Analyze tool logs, SPC data, and wafer maps to correlate conditions with yield.
  • Work with process engineers to ensure CD, profile, uniformity, and defectivity goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects.
  • Create SOPs, document events, and train equipment staff.

Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Ownership & Uptime
  • Serve asprimary owner for assigned tools, such as Trymax, Axcelis, Mattson tools
  • Maintain and continuously improveOEE,MTBF, andMTTRtargets.
  • Develop and maintainequipment health monitoringandbaseline control(SPC, FDC, fault codes, alarms).
  • Drive dailytool performance reviews, documenting issues, actions, and recovery plans.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Plan, execute, and optimizepreventive maintenance (PM)activities according to OEM recommendations and fab strategies.
  • Performcomplex troubleshootingon electrical, mechanical, vacuum, RF, gas delivery, and software subsystems.
  • Leadroot cause analysis (RCA)for chronic and high‑impact issues using structured methods (8D, Fishbone, 5‑Why, etc.).
  • Coordinate and supervisevendor field service engineers (FSEs)and/or contractors during major interventions, upgrades, and rebuilds.
3. Process / Equipment Interaction
  • Work closely withprocess engineeringto ensure equipment performance supportsCD, profile, uniformity, selectivity, and defectivityrequirements.
  • Analyze tool logs, SPC charts, metrology data, and wafer maps to correlate equipment conditions with yield and parametric performance.
  • Supportprocess qualifications,chamber swaps,hardware changes, andrecipe releases.
4. Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction
  • Identify and implementimprovement projectsto increase uptime, extend parts lifetime, and reduce operating cost.
  • Optimizeconsumables usageandspare parts strategy(buffer stock, repair vs. replace, refurbishment plans).
  • Participate in or leadCIP / Lean / Six Sigmaprojects for productivity and quality enhancement.
  • Supportcapacity upgrades(chamber additions, throughput improvement, software enhancements).
5. Documentation, Procedure & Training
  • Create and maintainstandard operating procedures (SOPs),maintenance procedures, andtroubleshooting guides
  • Document allevents, alarms, interventions, and changesin the equipment history system (EHS/CMMS).
  • Providetechnical training and coachingto equipment technicians, junior engineers, and shift personnel.
  • Ensure compliance withchange managementprocess for hardware, software, and recipe modifications.
6. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all activities followEHS regulations, company safety rules, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Conduct and supportrisk assessments, LOTO procedures, and safety audits for gas, chemical, RF, and high‑voltage systems.
  • Support compliance withISO/Automotive/Quality Management Systemsas applicable.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant Equipment / Field Service experience in Semiconductor area
  • Familiar with Trymax, Axcelis, Gasonic or Mattson tools
  • Proactive and adaptable, with strong learning agility and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills with a keen eye to details
  • High degree of interpersonal skills and able to work with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, 8D methodologies.
