We are seeking experienced Equipment Design Engineers / Systems Architects to lead the end-to-end mechanical, structural, and system-level design of next-generation high-precision automated machinery. In this multidisciplinary role, you will own the architectural vision of complex equipment—balancing structural rigidity, thermal stability, motion dynamics, and manufacturability to achieve sub-micron performance levels.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Concept Design: Lead the conceptualization and architectural layout of high-precision automated equipment, establishing baseline system layouts, module sizing, and overall footprint.
- Detailed Mechanical & Structural Design: Design precision mechanical sub-systems, gantry frameworks, motion stages, and structural frames using advanced CAD tools, ensuring optimal stiffness-to-weight ratios.
- FEA & Error Budgeting: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static, dynamic, and thermal performance; develop comprehensive error budgets covering Abbe errors, thermal drift, and mechanical compliance.
- Multidisciplinary Integration: Drive technical alignment across electrical, software, optical, and process engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of cabling, pneumatics, sensors, and end-effectors.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Assembly (DFA): Oversee tolerance stack-up analysis, component selection, and engineering change orders (ECOs) to transition designs smoothly from concept to prototype and volume production.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience designing complex, high-precision automated equipment (e.g., semiconductor manufacturing tools, advanced packaging, precision metrology, or high-end pick-and-place automation).
- Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX).
- Strong command of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and rigorous tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise in FEA simulation tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) for thermal and structural optimization.
- Deep understanding of precision motion elements (linear motors, air bearings, ball screws, harmonic drives) and vibration isolation principles.
- Familiarity with cleanroom design constraints and material selection for low-outgassing/high-stability environments.
