Job summary

ENGIE Singapore is seeking a Cooling Systems Senior Engineer to lead detailed and concept design for district cooling, chilled water and airside systems. You will work with external consultants, liaise with clients and internal teams, and ensure the engineering designs meet performance targets.

You will report to the Engineering Director - Cooling Systems and be based in Singapore, contributing to decarbonisation through energy efficiency projects and on-site utilities across markets in SEA.

Qualifications

• Degree in Thermal, Mechanical, Process Engineering, Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) or equivalent.
• Singapore Certified Energy Manager, BCA registered Energy Auditor or ESCO accreditation will be an advantage.
• Past experience of at least 3 years as design engineer / senior engineer for district cooling, HVAC project or large scale building waterside cooling systems.

Responsibilities

• During detailed design, supervise design outsourced to reputable consultants and review P&IDs.
• Coordinate with client, consultants, vendors and contractors to ensure quality and no scope gaps.
• Establish equipment specs and tender terms; review offers for technical compliance.
• Support construction phase to validate variations and ensure technical compliance.
• During concept and basic design, analyse cooling requirements and optimise system configurations for life-cycle cost.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

At ENGIE South East Asia, we set very ambitious target to help our Clients decarbonize through various pathways, i.e. energy efficiency projects, on-site utilities supply, district cooling systems, solar power generation, etc. Our business model is to design, finance, build and operate the Assets with Performance guarantees over long terms.

As the Cooling Systems Senior Engineer, you will have to conduct the detailed design executed by external engineering firms and support the project management team during detailed engineering and construction phase to ensure the committed system technical performances are achieved. You will also support the design of district cooling, chilled water and airside systems during feasibility study and front end engineering design

Reporting to the Engineering Director - Cooling Systems, you will be part of the engineering team. You will work closely with Business Development teams, Construction Management team, local entities as well as our internal Digital team, Assets Performance Management team and Operation team . You will be based in Singapore.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• During detailed design stage:


• Supervise the detailed design outsourced to reputable consultants: review the P&IDs, validate the control strategy of the systems, I/O points and sequence of operation


• Coordinate with the different project stakeholders (client, consultants, Qualified Person / Professional Engineer, vendors, contractors…) to ensure a smooth flow of information and ensure the design is developed in collaboration with all parties with good quality and no scope gaps


• Establish the equipment specifications and terms of reference for the tendering process


• Review equipment vendors’ offers and ensure technical compliance


• Review contractors’ offers and ensure technical compliance


• Support project management team during the construction works to validate variations and ensure the technical compliance of the works


• During concept and basic design stage:


• Support the design for chilled water energy performance contracts and district cooling systems, with the following responsibilities:


• Analyse and interpret customer cooling requirements and load profiles


• Optimise the system configuration, capacities and technology for lowest life cycle cost


• Provide sizing and specifications for the main equipment (chillers, pumps, thermal energy storage, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handling units and fan coil units) with the projects constraints in mind (efficiency target, level of CAPEX, site constraints, operation and maintenance constraints…). Provide optimum control strategies


• Draft and float Requests for Proposals for external consultants, suppliers and contractors. Evaluate tender responses


• Provide inputs for CAPEX and OPEX assessment


• Commit to the system efficiency


• Draft technical proposals, internal memos/reports and technical content of investment files


• Support Business Development team in discussions / presentations to the client

• Excellent knowledge of usual IT tools (Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint…)
