Job summary

BDx is seeking an Electrical Manager / Senior Electrical Manager in Singapore to lead electrical engineering design for data center projects. You will develop electrical infrastructure, power generation and distribution, and lighting/earthing systems, collaborating with customers and stakeholders to finalize designs.

The role requires hands-on experience in data center design across the full lifecycle, familiarity with Tier III/IV principles, and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• 5–8 years of hands-on design and engineering experience in data centers or critical facilities.
• Familiarity with Tier III/IV design principles (Uptime Institute).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering calculation/design software.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

The Electrical Manager / Senior Electrical Manager will lead the electrical engineering design and work closely with customers and project stakeholders to develop and finalize electrical system infrastructure, power generation and distribution systems, lighting, earthing and lightning protection systems for data centers and other mission-critical infrastructure projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the design and development of whole electrical system from the utility infeed to the IT equipment and mission-critical facilities for hyperscale data centre projects.
• Prepare high-level concept designs, electrical load calculations, power distribution topology, space planning studies and key performance metrics, including Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), during the early stages of project development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external consultants throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept development to schematic design, detailed engineering, and construction administration.
• Manage and oversee consultant teams in the delivery of detailed engineering designs for mission-critical electrical systems, including MV/LV systems, Generator plant, UPS and data hall power distribution.
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with customer requirements, local regulations, international standards (Uptime Institute Tier Standards, TIA-942) and corporate sustainability objectives.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors, conduct technical specification reviews, and participate in client design review meetings.
• Review and validate design documentation, testing and commissioning (T&C) procedures and test scripts for critical electrical infrastructure.
• Attend site meetings, inspections and testing and commissioning activities to ensure successful project execution.
• Participate in overseas project meetings, site inspections and stakeholder engagements as required.

QUALIFICATION

• Degree holder in Electrical Engineering, Building Service Engineering or related disciplines.
• Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on design and engineering experience within data center and critical facilities environments.
• Familiarity with Tier Classification standards (Uptime Institute Tier III/IV design principles).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering calculation and design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven experience in data center design, preferably across the full design lifecycle from concept through detailed design.
• Willingness to travel as required by project within the region.
• Corporate membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., PE / CEng) or accredited Data Center certifications (ATD) is a strong advantage.
• Self-motivated with strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the team.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Chinese language skills, including Cantonese and Mandarin, are advantageous.
