SEA Singapore is seeking a Data Center Electrical Engineer to join our Infrastructure team to design, review, deliver and operate reliable data center electrical infrastructure. You will review LV distribution, UPS, generators, MV/HV switchgear, and coordinate with data halls, cabling, cooling and other building services.

As a Data Center Electrical Engineer under the Data Center Engineering team, you will work alongside a team of innovators and technologists to support the design, review, delivery and operation of reliable and efficient data center electrical infrastructure. This role focuses on electrical design verification, technical assessment of colocation solutions, and testing and commissioning, ensuring that data center operators and contractors deliver systems in accordance with agreed technical specifications and operational requirements. You will be involved in reviewing electrical systems ranging from rack-level power distribution and LV infrastructure to upstream systems, including UPS, generators and MV/HV distribution networks. You will also have opportunities to support broader data center infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to various stages of design, procurement, implementation, commissioning and operational handover.

Job Description

• Support the development and review of electrical design criteria, calculations, drawings, schematics, specifications and technical submissions for data center infrastructure and colocation projects.
• Review LV electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switchboards, busbar trunking, power cables, protective devices, earthing and bonding arrangements.
• Assist in reviewing data hall and rack-level electrical infrastructure, including secondary busbar sizing and routing, TOUs, rPDUs, CEEform connections and equipment installation clearances.
• Coordinate electrical infrastructure interfaces with data hall layouts, cable containment, network cabling, cooling systems and other building services to ensure practical and maintainable installations.
• Support the verification of upstream electrical infrastructure, including generators, UPS systems, MV/HV switchgear and transformers, against approved designs, tender commitments and technical requirements.
• Review electrical load calculations, system capacity, redundancy arrangements, equipment ratings and power distribution schematics to identify potential design gaps, non-compliance and operational risks.
• Assist in evaluating technical tender submissions, colocation proposals, equipment specifications and design changes to ensure compliance with required performance, reliability and resilience standards.
• Coordinate with colocation providers, consultants, contractors and vendors to resolve technical queries, review design deviations and track outstanding technical issues to closure.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, installation inspections, testing and commissioning, and IST, where applicable.
• Support the review of commissioning procedures, test results, defects and non-conformances to verify system performance, operational readiness and compliance with agreed technical requirements.
• Assist in project handover, technical documentation reviews and continuous improvement of data center electrical design standards and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical and Electronic Engineering / Power Engineering / Facilities Management or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant working experience in electrical engineering design, building services consultancy, mission-critical infrastructure or data center projects.
• Experience with an electrical / M&E design consultancy is strongly preferred. Candidates with solid electrical engineering fundamentals are encouraged to apply.
• Good understanding of LV electrical distribution systems, including switchboards, transformers, cables, busbars, circuit breakers, earthing systems and electrical load calculations.
• Familiarity with electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, technical specifications, protection principles and system redundancy.
• Exposure to data center electrical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, MV/HV switchgear, rack-level power distribution and electrical commissioning, is an advantage.
• Familiarity with relevant Singapore electrical codes and standards, including SS638 and applicable IEC standards, is advantageous.
• Relevant data center certifications or training, such as CDCP, CDCS or Uptime Institute ATD/ATS, are a plus.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP or other electrical design and analysis tools is advantageous. Relevant data center certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an inquisitive mindset and willingness to challenge technical assumptions constructively.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated, adaptable and detail-oriented team player, with a willingness to learn, take on increasing technical responsibilities and develop a long-term career in data center engineering.
• Resourceful, with good industry awareness and an interest in building professional networks within the data center sector, is an advantage.
• Willingness to attend project sites, technical inspections and testing activities in Southeast Asia and, where required, elsewhere in the region.
