Job summary

Munich Reinsurance in Singapore seeks a Principal Data Scientist to shape high-impact ML/AI solutions, balancing innovation with governance. You will lead discovery to production, craft scalable Python-based models, and translate business needs into actionable roadmaps.

You will mentor teams, drive technical direction, and partner with data engineering and MLOps to deliver reusable capabilities while communicating with C-level stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or Engineering.
• 9 to 12 years of hands-on experience delivering data science/AI solutions with leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in applied ML, statistics, experimental design and model evaluation.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with production-quality code.
• Experience across full ML lifecycle: data prep, feature engineering, model development, deployment, monitoring and retraining (MLOps).
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for complex data science/AI initiatives aligned with business strategy.
• Lead end-to-end delivery from discovery to production and adoption.
• Architect and build scalable Python-based ML/AI solutions across structured/unstructured data.
• Establish evaluation frameworks, baselines, acceptance criteria, and monitor model performance.
• Communicate options, trade-offs and recommendations to senior stakeholders and clients.
• Mentor data scientists and engineers, raise engineering standards through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with data engineering, MLOps, platform and product teams to create reusable assets.
• Embed responsible AI, governance, security and privacy throughout the lifecycle.
