A leading trading firm in Singapore is seeking a Senior Copper Trader to manage copper and non-ferrous metals trading operations. This role requires managing client relationships, executing trades, and conducting market research to identify trends and opportunities. The ideal candidate should have over 1 year of trading experience, strong analytical skills, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Proficiency in Excel and Python, along with excellent communication skills, are essential. Occasional travel may be required.
Position Overview
The Senior Copper Trader is responsible for leading and managing the company’s copper and non-ferrous metals trading operations in Singapore, covering client management, trade execution, market analysis, and risk control. The role requires in-depth research into copper price drivers (supply-demand, macroeconomic liquidity, speculative forces, and structural trends) to identify business opportunities with an exploratory mindset, driving the company’s strategic growth in global markets.
Key Responsibilities
Fundamental Supply-Demand: Track global mine production, inventory levels, and demand changes from industrial and electric vehicle sectors.
Macro Liquidity and USD Trends: Monitor global economic indicators (e.g., GDP, industrial production), interest rates, and USD exchange rate fluctuations.
Speculative Forces: Analyze speculative behavior and futures dynamics in markets such as LME and SHFE.
Long-Term Structural Trends: Evaluate the long-term impact of green energy, electric vehicles, and AI data centers on copper demand.
B. Identify and develop new business opportunities, assess profitability, and formulate trading strategies to optimize market competitiveness.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Finance, Economics, International Trade, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Over 1 year of experience in copper or non-ferrous metals trading, with familiarity in LME, SHFE, and pricing mechanisms.
Strong research skills, proficient in analyzing supply-demand, macroeconomic trends, speculative forces, and structural trends; proficiency in tools like Excel and Python is preferred.
Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin or other Asian languages is a plus.
Knowledge of Singapore’s trade environment and international regulations, with strong cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills.
Strong leadership, an exploratory mindset, and the ability to execute in a fast-paced environment.
Work Location
Singapore (occasional travel to Asia-Pacific or other international markets may be required based on business needs).
