Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, build, and operate a scalable global network. You will expand the cloud network across regions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, high‑availability infrastructure.

You will lead production network design, manage connectivity, document configurations, and participate in on‑call rotations while adopting AI‑assisted workflows and new technologies to support rapid growth.

Qualifications

• CCNA/JNCIA level experience indicating networking foundation.
• Experience with multiple vendors and global deployments.
• Strong AWS networking experience in production (3+ years).
• Good documentation habits and change-control understanding.
• Basic understanding of GCP networking concepts.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows and practical use cases.
• Solid CLI knowledge for JunOS, IOS, or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
• Understanding of BGP and route filtering.
• Collaborative and outcome-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand Airwallex’s global cloud network infrastructure into new regions and markets while adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Help design the team structure and size for the future.
• Mentor and train junior engineers.
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and secure production network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud environments across multiple data centres.
• Manage global connectivity over international leased lines and domestic internet connections.
• Own configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud environments.
• Act as first responder for complex network issues, guiding incidents through to completion and documenting after-action reports.
• Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, Database, Corporate IT, and Facilities to integrate network solutions.
• Troubleshoot network issues across physical and cloud environments with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and maintain network documentation; diagrams, configurations, procedures.
• Evaluate networking technologies to support growth.
• Participate in a global on-call rotation and pre-scheduled upgrades to minimize disruption.
• Propose practical solutions to improve visibility and operational capabilities.
