Job summary

Arup is seeking a Protective Design Engineer to join the Resilience, Security & Risk team in South-East Asia. You will lead blast and protective design work for buildings and critical infrastructure, delivering risk-based strategies from concept through construction.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, apply UFC/ASCE and local codes, and prepare technical reports and design calculations to support secure, resilient environments for our clients.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in blast engineering and protective design.
• Sound knowledge of UFC, ASCE and local codes.
• Understanding of risk-based design methodologies and vulnerability studies.
• Experience preparing technical specifications and protective design documentation.
• Knowledge of legislative and health & safety requirements relevant to project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead blast and protective design services across all project stages, from concept to construction.
• Undertake blast analysis for reinforced concrete, steel and composite structures.
• Perform façade blast assessments for glazed and non-glazed systems.
• Design hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) and other protective security measures.
• Prepare and review technical reports, design criteria, specifications and calculations.
• Carry out design checks and engineering analyses per recognised standards.
