Job summary

Shoopee's Engineering and Technology team in Singapore seeks a capable Big Data SRE who will deploy and operate high-scale data platforms. You’ll improve availability, reliability, and efficiency while building observability and automation.

You’ll own incident response, capacity planning, and post-incident reviews, collaborating across data, infra, and engineering teams to keep production running smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• At least one year of experience in big data SRE, platform operations, or production support.
• Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem and hands-on ops with HDFS, YARN, Spark, Flink, Hive, Presto/Trino, Kafka, HBase, or ClickHouse.
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems and common ops tools, with monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Hands-on experience handling production incidents in big data environments with structured troubleshooting to identify root causes quickly.
• Programming or scripting in Shell, Python, Java, or Scala for operational tooling and automation.
• Understanding of HA, DR, observability, change management, and SRE practices.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills and a proactive improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, operate, and maintain big data platforms, improving availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Own monitoring, alerting, incident response, troubleshooting, and capacity planning for big data services.
• Build observability: metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alert management.
• Document and automate repetitive tasks; turn knowledge into tools and standardized processes.
• Improve incident response procedures, contingency plans, and post-incident reviews to reduce MTTR.
• Collaborate with eng, data, and infra teams to optimize platform architecture and reliability.
