Job summary

GovTech's Experimental Systems and Technology Lab (ESTL) seeks a Senior Software Engineer to help redefine the Parents Gateway platform. You will design scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, shaping architecture and engineering practices for a national-scale digital product used by MOE and schools across Singapore.

You will work with Product Managers, UX Designers, Education Officers and fellow engineers to deliver robust, secure and observable systems, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with backend systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience designing production-grade services and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of architecture and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs for the next generation of PG.
• Shape architectural and technology decisions across backend, data, and cloud infra.
• Design and improve cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and shared platform capabilities.
• Build for production with observability, monitoring, security and reliability.
• Own systems from design to deployment and production operations.
• Raise engineering standards with testing, reviews and mentorship.
• Collaborate with Product, UX and Education teams to translate problems into technical solutions.
