Job summary

GovTech is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to join a team building a mission-critical digital platform for the public sector. You will design, implement, and evolve backend services with strong data integrity, navigate complex workflows, and contribute to modern engineering practices and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Java.
• Strong experience building backend services using Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with TDD and test automation tools such as JUnit, JMeter, or equivalent.
• Experience with REST APIs, backend workflow implementation, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent.
• Experience with NodeJS and TypeScript/JavaScript is a plus.
• Experience with AWS ecosystem (EC2, RDS, EKS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services, APIs, and application logic for complex business workflows.
• Understand business processes, data relationships, and operational rules; translate into maintainable designs.
• Create clean domain models, service boundaries, and data models ensuring correctness and extensibility.
• Build validations, state transitions, and orchestration flows for transaction-heavy processes.
• Collaborate with QA, analysts, and developers to ensure testable, observable, production-ready systems.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code with automated tests and code reviews.
