Job summary

Portcast is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its remote-first engineering team. You will design, build and maintain APIs and services powering real-time data across carrier sources with a focus on scalability and availability.

You’ll collaborate with Product and Data Science, own end-to-end features, and help shape the system architecture as Portcast scales globally. Applicants should have 4+ years in backend development and a track record of shipping production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience designing, developing and releasing technical solutions and building production systems.
• Experience architecting at scale and defending architectural decisions in reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain APIs, services and systems across the stack.
• Collaborate with Business, Product and Data Science to understand and solve customer pain points at scale.
• Design, Develop, Implement and Deploy enterprise-level, high-availability web applications with support from the design team.
• Own end-to-end the design and implementation of real-time data handling from ingestion to user-facing results.
• Harden internal tooling and create alerting/monitoring to catch issues early.
• Make architecture trade-offs explicit with defensible reasoning and measurable outcomes.
