Job summary

Portcast is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and maintain APIs and services, scale platforms, and own end-to-end real-time data flows. You will work closely with Product, Data Science, and Business teams to deliver high-availability systems that power enterprise decisions.

We expect 5+ years of backend experience, strong Python/AWS background, and a track record in building scalable solutions. This remote-friendly role spans Asia and Europe with a distributed team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience designing, developing and releasing technical solutions.
• Curious by default; strong problem-solving and deep systems understanding.
• Strong background in building scalable backend products and systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted tools and ability to reason about trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain APIs, services and systems and debug production issues across multiple levels of the stack.
• Collaborate with Business, Product and Data Science teams to solve customer pain points at scale.
• Design, develop, implement and deploy enterprise-level, high availability web platforms.
• Create infrastructure that scales; improve system architecture and performance.
• Own end-to-end data handling from ingestion to ML-powered insights and user-facing recommendations.
