Job summary

Grab is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer for its Payments FundsCore team in Singapore. You will build scalable distributed systems that form Grab's financial backbone, including the Payment Platform, Driver Payouts, and Fee Platform.

You will own critical backend services processing millions of transactions daily, applying idempotency, event sourcing, and Saga patterns to ensure correctness and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least five years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in Go (preferred), Java, or another major programming language.
• Fundamentals of algorithms and data structures; ability to apply them.
• Experience with microservices and cloud platforms (AWS).
• Experience designing systems with observability, availability, security and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable backend systems meeting reliability, security, and performance requirements.
• Write clean, testable, maintainable code for FinTech and payment-platform challenges.
• Build distributed systems ensuring transaction correctness and consistency.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver new capabilities.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain runbooks and technical docs.
• Diagnose production issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote learning.
