Job summary

Kake is a remote-first, people-first global community of senior engineers. We are seeking Senior Android Video Player Engineers to own live video playback across Android and Android TV.

You will design and optimize Android video player frameworks, customize ExoPlayer components, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve QoE for users worldwide. Qualifications

• 7+ years of Android development experience with Kotlin/Java.
• Proven track record building and maintaining video players and live playback on Android/Android TV.
• Strong hands-on ExoPlayer expertise and performance optimization for live streaming.
• Experience debugging playback performance issues like rebuffering and latency.
• Familiarity with streaming protocols DASH and HLS and ABR workflows.
• Experience using QoE analytics tools to diagnose playback performance.
• Proficiency with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flows.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize Android video player frameworks and SDKs for live streaming.
• Customize ExoPlayer components, ABR logic, and player builders to improve playback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex playback issues in live streaming environments.
