Kake is a remote-first, people-first global community of senior engineers. We’re seeking a Senior iOS Video Player Engineer with deep experience in live video streaming and playback across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Qualifications

6+ years of iOS development experience with strong Swift and Objective-C expertise.
Proven track record building video players and live playback components for iOS/tvOS.
Deep experience with HLS and AVPlayer, including tuning startup time and buffering.
Ability to debug and optimize playback performance in live streaming environments.
Familiarity with video analytics and QoE metrics (e.g., Mux, Conviva).
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain live video playback functionality for iOS and tvOS.
Optimize HLS playback focusing on startup time, buffering, latency, and stability.
Troubleshoot complex playback issues in live streaming environments.
Tune playback performance at scale to ensure high-quality viewing.
Use video analytics and QoE metrics to diagnose and improve playback.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure playback quality across devices.
Contribute to streaming project best practices and continuous improvement.
