Job summary

The Japan Research Institute, Limited (Singapore Branch) seeks a Senior Analyst/AVP, Compliance to strengthen governance across its multi-franchise and group companies in APAC. The role focuses on aligning local practices with Head Office policies and SMBC Group standards, covering retail, digital, and wholesale banking activities in the region.

You will work with compliance teams to implement controls, monitor AML readiness, and coordinate with local offices to ensure timely regulatory

Qualifications

3-5 years experience working in compliance or legal in a bank or non-bank financial institution overseeing group companies in the APAC region.
Experience in retail or consumer banking is preferred.
Sound knowledge and experience in AML and compliance matters in banking/FI is preferred
Strong collaboration and cross-cultural communication skills.
Prior working experience/knowledge in India, Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam or with non-bank entities from those countries is preferred

Responsibilities

Oversee governance framework for APAC group companies from compliance perspective.
Assist group companies to implement Head Office compliance policies and rules.
Ensure sound AML and compliance policies are in place and operating to standards, with early detection and remediation of issues.
Support the compliance teams in meeting jurisdiction-specific requirements.
Identify applicable laws/regulations, assess impact, and implement appropriate controls.
Participate in Risk Due Diligence and Post-Merger Integration as needed.
Collaborate effectively with Head Office and other departments.
