Job summary

GovTech, the lead agency driving Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives, seeks an experienced software engineer to help build the AI Programme. You’ll work across surfaces, runtime and platform layers to deliver production‑grade tools for public officers, with guardrails, auditability and cost accountability.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with fluency in TypeScript or Python.
• Ability to move across frontend, backend, data and cloud layers.
• End-to-end ownership: design, build, deploy and operate.
• Working knowledge of containers, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization for secure systems.
• Experience with LLM APIs, tool calling and agentic workflows is welcome.
• Familiarity with agentic development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor).
• Able to write code you would be comfortable putting in front of someone who reads little of it.
• Reliability handling public data and compliant systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and run surfaces officers use daily: streaming, interrupts, resumable sessions.
• Develop the runtime: tool orchestration, gates, loop limits, memory and checkpointing.
• Support onboarding of teams to run their own agents, MCP servers and models safely.
• Extend shared APIs for speech, vision and document extraction with cost efficiency.
• Integrate with identity, mail, calendars and document stores across agencies.
• Instrument traces, latency, error taxonomies and per‑feature cost data.
• Incorporate evaluation into delivery for measurable prompt/tool/model decisions.
• Manage deployments, incidents, capacity, cost and officer support queues.
• Collaborate with agency teams as users and builders to extend the platform.
• Participate in security and privacy reviews assuming audits occur.
