Job summary

sggovterp is hiring a Backend/Full-Stack Engineer to reimagine OneMotoring as an intelligent Digital Shopfront. You’ll design secure API integrations, embed AI features, and ensure reliable production systems across the platform.

You’ll work in Singapore’s public sector context, using Python and modern frontend tooling with emphasis on security, scalability, and retrieval-augmented generation to deliver delightful digital services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, including at least 2 years building applied AI features.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, including prompt design, semantic search, function calling, and structured output parsing.
• Understand retrieval-augmented generation concepts and when retrieval is the right solution.
• AI safety and reliability are core engineering work (hallucination handling, validation, graceful degradation).
• Ability to navigate a full-stack environment in Python alongside a modern frontend framework.
• Understanding of middleware and API gateways to wrap legacy systems for modern use.
• Solid application security foundations, including OWASP and zero-trust design.
• Able to turn rough product ideas into technical designs.

Responsibilities

• Build secure integrations: Design and implement API connections to data vaults and legacy systems with authentication, caching and error handling.
• Embed AI in applications: Design AI-assisted components that convert plain-language descriptions into digital touchpoints and workflows.
• Engineer the retrieval layer: Design how the platform retrieves and grounds information for AI features.
• Review vendor AI approaches: Enforce engineering standards for vendor AI, review pipelines and guardrails.
• Make AI reliable in production: Build monitoring, evaluation and guardrails; detect underperformance and provide graceful fallbacks.
• Work across the platform: Collaborate with engineers to fit AI features into the wider architecture.
• Own your features end to end: Track usage, refine AI pipelines and deliver measurable value.
