Job summary

voco Orchard Singapore, operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts, seeks a dynamic Security Manager to lead the Security department and ensure safety compliance across the hotel. You will oversee training, incident investigations, and the coordination of security operations with other departments to protect guests and staff.

Key requirements include 8+ years in security management, valid PLRD license and CERT SMC, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in security management, law enforcement, or the police force.
• At least 2 years experience in a similar position in a international hotel chain.
• Possess a valid PLRD License and CERT SMC certification.
• Fire Safety Manager, First Aid, CPR and AED would be a strong advantage.
• Able work on rotating shifts (including night shifts), weekends and Public Holidays.
• Physically fit with good stamina to handle the job demand.
• Able to converse fluently in English.

Responsibilities

• Screen, interview, select, manage Security Supervisors and Officers to maintain order.

Your day to day

voco® Orchard Singapore is seeking a dynamic and passionate Security Manager to be part of this exciting team. As a Security Manager, you are overall responsible for the Security department and you direct overall activities of the department to achieve maximum efficiency and safety measures as required by the hotel and local regulations.

• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel staff, Corporate Hotel Management Group and Corporate Risk Management and Legal department.
• Assist in training/educating employees on current safety and security issues to ensure compliance with all Company loss control policies and current security, and safety regulations. Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.
• Screen, interview, select, manage, review and counsel Security Supervisors and Officers to maintain order throughout the hotel. Periodically review Officers and Supervisors’ logs to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to security equipment or hotel property as needed and ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.
• Provide direction and support to the team on a daily basis.
• Develop all team members of the department with appropriate training and coaching.

Financial

• Record necessary and pertinent incident reports or information to police and fire agencies involving investigations and to Corporate Legal department, Corporate Claims Management department, insurance agencies and outside attorneys to assist in case evaluation, settlement or defense involving lawsuits against the Company

Guest Experience

• Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest related incidents, questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
• Investigate loss and safety incidents involving guests, employees and/or hotel loss and safety exposure and comply with state and government regulations and hotel procedures to prevent/minimize the loss from theft and other safety risk or litigation against the hotel. Such investigations may include theft or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, intoxication incidents, other guest complaints and safety hazard accidents and incidents.
• May have to administer first aid and/or CPR on guest or staff member in accordance to guidelines and communicate specified information to EMS/medical personnel as required.

Responsible Business

• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities and developing strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Overseeing the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
• Refine and implement emergency response plans and conducting drills to ensure the hotel is prepared to handle various emergencies, such as fires, natural disasters, or security threats.
• Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as necessary.
• Conduct investigations into security incidents, such as thefts, assaults, or unauthorized access. Gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and liaising with law enforcement agencies, if required.
• Provide security awareness training to hotel employees to promote a culture of security and vigilance.
• Conduct regular briefings and disseminate information on potential threats, security updates, and best practices to ensure team members are well-informed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of security incidents, investigations, and actions taken.
• Direct coordination of training in fire life safety, CPR, as well as other Corporate approved programs i.e. Tabletop exercise, fire drills evacuation and etc.
• Promote safe work practices. Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and preventive measures. Assist in the development, administration and implementation of safety incentive programs and safety training classes. Visually identify, correct and record safety hazards.
• Advise on all matters pertaining to legal requirements on Security and Fire Safety promulgated by government authorities.
• Promote a good working relationship between the Police, Civil Defence, the Hotel and other related Agencies.
• Chair and lead all Hotel Security and Fire Safety Meetings with government and other related agencies.
• Maintain reports such as Occurrence Book; Lost Property and Property Found Reports; Accidents (Guest & Staff) Reports; Theft Reports: Undesirables Records; Key issuance Records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
