Job summary

Westwood Primary School in Singapore is seeking a Lab Support Assistant to provide teaching and learning support to science teachers, prepare resources for lab activities, and manage science materials and equipment.

The role requires a minimum NITEC/Higher NITEC in Science or related field, at least one year of lab support experience, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team; first-aid certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum Nitec / Higher Nitec (ITE) in Science or related field, or equivalent.
• At least one year experience assisting HOD-Science with daily laboratory operations and administrative duties.
• Experience supporting Science programmes, STEM & Sustainability projects and lab-based lessons in schools.
• Experience creating digital resources such as presentations and videos using PowerPoint.
• Proficient in preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, planning and analytical skills.
• Experience working with primary school students in school settings.
• Ability to plan and work independently and in a team.
• First-aid certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching and learning support to teachers, including resources for Science lab activities and enrichment programmes.
• Label and record Science teaching materials and lab resources; maintain loan records.
• Pack and organise resources in Science Rooms; ensure cleanliness and conducive learning spaces.
• Ensure lab equipment and materials are in good working order; conduct stock-takes and record breakages.
• Dispose of waste materials properly and maintain safety in the laboratories.
• Ensure student safety in Science rooms and report incidents to HOD/Level Head.
• Check safety devices (eye wash, showers, fire extinguishers) are functional.
• Provide administrative support for Science competitions and programme materials distribution.
• Assist in safety briefings and equipment awareness (e.g., microscopes).
• Perform any other duties assigned by the School.
