Job summary

V-SWIFT PTE. LTD. requires a dedicated science learning support assistant to help teachers prepare resources, label and maintain lab materials, and organize Science Rooms for lessons in Singapore.

You will ensure lab equipment is in good condition, conduct regular stock-takes, and assist with safety briefings and administrative tasks for science programmes and competitions.

Qualifications

• Minimum Nitec / Higher Nitec (ITE) in Science or a related field, or its equivalent.
• At least one year experience assisting HOD-Science in daily Lab operations and admin duties.
• Experience providing support for Science programmes; STEM & Sustainability projects and lab-based lessons.
• Experience creating digital resources such as presentations and videos using PowerPoint.
• Proficient in preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Good interpersonal, planning and analytical skills.
• Experience with primary school students in school settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching and learning support to teachers, including preparation of resources/materials for Science activities and enrichment programmes.
• Label and manage records of existing and new Science teaching materials and lab resources; maintain loan records.
• Pack and organise resources in Science Rooms; ensure rooms are clean and conducive for lessons.
• Ensure lab equipment and specimens are in good working condition; conduct stock-take at least twice a year.
• Maintain stock books and breakage records; initiate ordering of replacements as needed.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste materials such as sharp objects and chemicals.
• Check safety devices (eye-wash stations, showers, fire extinguishers) are working; update first aid box.
• Provide admin/logistical support for Science competitions and assessments; collate survey results and distribute materials.
• Assist in safety briefings such as Laboratory Safety and equipment awareness.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the School.

Job description

The Services required are setout as follows:

• Provide teaching and learningsupport to teachers, for example, preparation of resources / materials forScience laboratory activities and enrichment programme.


• Label and keep records ofexisting and new Science teaching and learning materials and lab resources suchas teachers’ desk copies, reference books, lab apparatus and chemicals etc.Maintain loan records of Science Resources.


• Pack and organise the resources in the Science Rooms. Ensure that the Science rooms are clean andconducive for lessons.


• Ensure lab equipment,materials and specimens are in good working conditions. Conduct stock-take atleast twice a year. Maintain a stock book and breakage record to initiateordering of replacements where necessary.


• Ensure proper disposal ofwaste materials such as sharp waste objects and chemicals.


• Ensure safety of students inthe Science rooms. Report any incident to Science HOD/ Level Head. Maintain alaboratory incident log book.


• Check that first aid box isupdated, safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency eye-washers,showers and fire extinguishers are working.


• Provide administrative /logistical support for Science competitions, assessments and programmescollation of survey results and distribution of Science materials to studentsetc.


• Assist in carrying out safetybriefings such as Laboratory Safety, equipment awareness (e.g. Microscopes).


• Any otherduties assigned by the School

The Personnel should preferablyhave the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Minimum Nitec / Higher Nitec(ITE) in Science or a related field, or its equivalent


• At least one year experiencein assisting HOD-Science in the execution of daily Science LaboratoryOperational and Administrative duties.


• Experience of providingsupport for Science programmes; STEM & Sustainability projects andLaboratory-based lessons in schools.


• Experience in creatingdigital resources such as presentations and videos according to ScienceExperiential Learning Experiences using powerpoint.


• Proficient in preparation andmaintenance of Laboratory equipment.


• Fluent in written and spokenEnglish.


• Good interpersonal,communication, planning and analytical skills.


• Has experience working withprimary school students in school settings.


• Able to plan and work bothindependently and as part of a team


• Certified with standard first aid is notnecessary but will be an advantage
