Job Description

Our client requires a Sales Manager to support the Director of Sales and Assistant Director of Sales in driving revenue growth through the development of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) and corporate business opportunities. This role has a functional reporting line to the Director of Catering Sales and is responsible for developing and expanding the MICE and an assigned corporate client base through proactive sales activities, strategic account management, and relationship building.

The role also includes negotiating corporate and group rates, managing rate loading and account production, preparing sales reports and forecasts, and ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy set by Management.

Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Continuously solicit new business that expands the client base using action plans focused on the corporate and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) market segments
  • Develop and maintain contact with business partners closely aligned to hotel business
  • Prospect and grow an account list, handling incoming leads and closing sales
  • Apply sales strategies and goals to negotiate optimum room rates for the benefit of the hotel's business, selling the hotel's facilities and unique selling points with a view to optimising revenue growth opportunities
  • Monitor existing business and share sales strategies during sales and revenue meetings to maximise opportunities
  • Work closely with other sales associates and call on important customers, establishing multiple levels of contact within the customer's organisation
  • Participate in sales and revenue meetings by sharing the latest market trends and new business development opportunities and activities
  • Practice professional account qualification on a consistent basis, including measuring budget needs, date flexibility, space requirements, and competitive information
  • Attend tradeshows and major business functions as required or directed by the Director of Sales and Marketing
  • Organise familiarisation visits of hotel facilities for clients and potential clients
  • Take responsibility for an assigned sales target
General Duties
  • Support and assist in the development of the annual Business Plan, Hotel Budget and Marketing Plan as requested by the Assistant or Director of Sales and Marketing
  • Gain excellent knowledge of hotel facilities and services and apply this knowledge in selling against competitors
  • Create excellent client relationships through attention to detail, prompt follow-up, and empathy for customer perceptions and needs while maintaining professionalism
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Take ownership of daily sales activities and maximise productivity by following a system of weekly and monthly action plans
  • Demonstrate good working relationships with other departments, maintaining effective communication and teamwork
  • Actively assist the Credit Department in following up on deposits, payments, and overdue accounts
  • Complete small administrative tasks independently where possible
  • Comprehend, digest, and comply with hotel policies and procedures as described in the Associate Handbook and other documents
  • Support and uphold the hotel's mission, vision, and guiding principles
  • Adhere to all established policies and procedures relating to the administration of accounts and the ultimate booking of business
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales from time to time

Requirements
  • Proven experience in hospitality sales, particularly in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) and corporate segments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Established network of corporate and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) contacts
  • Experience with rate negotiation and account production
  • Familiarity with sales reporting and forecasting
  • Prior experience attending tradeshows or industry events
  • Background in a similar hotel or hospitality sales environment
