Job summary

MINDEF in Singapore is seeking a senior safety professional to ensure unit compliance with safety guidelines and policies. You will work with unit commanders to ensure safe training conduct and to mitigate training risks through inspections.

The role requires extensive leadership and stakeholder management to oversee safety SOPs, study safety trends, address concerns, and support multiple field and overseas training commitments.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in safety management, occupational health or a related field.
• Good understanding and appreciation of safety structures, systems, policies and processes.
• Good leadership, decision-making, organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Job description

What the role is:

You are responsible for ensuring that the unit remains in compliance with safety guidelines and policies. Working in tandem with unit commanders, you ensure that training is conducted safely, provide recommendations upstream to mitigate training risks and assist in the correction of any identified non-compliance through safety inspections.

What you will be working on:

• Advise on unit occupational health standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Study safety trends and advise the unit accordingly
• Identify and address safety concerns
• Support unit commanders in ensuring safe conduct of training activitiesChallenge(s)
• Managing multiple outfield and overseas training commitments while maintaining consistent safety oversight across all activities
