Job summary

NTU Singapore, in collaboration with Hyundai and A*STAR, seeks a Research Engineer to support hardware design, assembly and control of versatile end effectors for manufacturing lines.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners, develop prototypes, plan experiments, analyse results, and contribute to system reliability and performance improvements across the manufacturing platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with 4+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of CAD design and mechanical system development; hardware assembly and prototyping; microcontroller or PLC programming; robotics and automation systems.
• Basic programming or firmware development experience is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to design, develop, and automate end effectors for manufacturing systems.
• Conduct investigations into design concepts and manipulation strategies for end effector applications.
• Support prototype development, hardware assembly, and system integration.
• Plan and carry out experimental testing on end effectors using real-world components.
• Analyse test results and prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of system performance and reliability.
