Job summary

ST Engineering, a global technology, defence and engineering group headquartered in Singapore, is seeking a GNC-focused engineer to design and develop guidance and control systems for unmanned aircraft. You will work in a tight-knit team delivering safe drone systems for Singapore and the region, contributing to simulations, sensor integration, firmware, and flight data analysis.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of industry or relevant experience in GNC.
  • Strong background in system modelling, system identification, parameter estimation, frequency response analysis, and classical/modern control theory.
  • Experience in system modelling and control, analysis, and simulation in aircraft applications.
  • Experience in model-based design and analysis using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Knowledge of inertial and other navigation sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, GNSS receivers, pressure sensors, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Kalman filtering, digital signal processing and sensor data fusion.
  • Proficient in C/C++.
  • Proficient in Linux, ROS and Git.
  • No work experience required.

  • Generate documentation on specifications, design, tests and results of GNC systems.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Support ground and flight test activities.
  • Collaborate with staff across engineering and business groups.

Job description

You will help to design and develop Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) systems and algorithms for our drone systems and be part of a tight-knit team that provides safe, reliable drone systems and quality services to our distinguished customers in Singapore and around the region.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop and modify guidance, navigation, and flight control systems and algorithms for our unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Develop and modify 6-DOF and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation environments.
  • Select, test, evaluate and integrate new sensors or navigation systems onto our drone systems.
  • Write, modify, and test firmware and flight code that runs on the flight control computers of our drone systems (in C or C++).
  • Analyze flight data to verify flight performance and to help to troubleshoot issues that are found during the flights of our drone systems.
  • Generate documentation on the specifications, design, test procedures and test results of the GNC systems and algorithms that were developed.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Support ground and flight test activities.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with staff in other engineering (e.g. system, software, safety, flight test, etc.) and business groups.
