Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore is looking for an experienced automation engineer to design and implement robotic systems for automated assembly, while liaising with stakeholders to develop AI-driven process optimisations and defect detection. You will identify automation opportunities, ensure system communications across tools, and train operators for sustained performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, or related field.
Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI and robotics is preferred.
Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IoT).
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Design and implement robotic systems for automated assembly processes.
Liaise with stakeholders and develop AI-driven solutions for process optimization and defect detection.
Identify automation opportunities in manufacturing processes.
Ensure seamless communication between automation systems and other manufacturing tools.
Troubleshoot and maintain automation systems.
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability.
Train technicians and operators on the use of automated systems.
Develop and maintain technical documentation.
Research and implement robotics and AI with MES for real-time monitoring.
