Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore is looking for an experienced automation engineer to design and implement robotic systems for automated assembly, while liaising with stakeholders to develop AI-driven process optimisations and defect detection. You will identify automation opportunities, ensure system communications across tools, and train operators for sustained performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI and robotics is preferred.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IoT).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; excellent communication and teamwork.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, Mechanical or a related field
• Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI and robotics is preferred
• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IoT etc)
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g Python)
• Proven track record in designing and deploying robotic systems and AI-driven inspection tools is preferred
• Knowledge of AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) including machine learning algorithm and robotic platforms is preferred
