Job summary

Michael Page International (UAE) seeks a Senior Risk Manager for mega road/highway projects, primarily in the Middle East. The role focuses on leading risk strategies, identifying mitigations, and maintaining the project risks register across multiple disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years in risk management, a Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and strong English skills (Arabic a plus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Over 15 years in risk management, particularly in mega road/highway construction projects in KSA.
• Knowledge of Middle East design and construction market, conditions of contract and contractual issues.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Savvy with risk management software for recording and reporting risks.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and specialized assistance to identify project risks and mitigations.
• Work with project managers to recognize opportunities and mitigations to minimize risk exposure.
• Assess risks from design changes and schedule slippages.
• Establish and oversee the project risks register.
• Develop and deliver monthly risk reports to the client.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits for mitigation effectiveness and standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines for a cohesive risk management approach.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand expectations and exceed them.
• Perform day-to-day risk management activities: identification, prioritization, register management, action planning and monitoring.
• Act as liaison between the consultant team and the client on risk matters.
• Manage client expectations regarding risk management.
• Facilitate and chair risk workshops with Client, Consultant and Contractors.

Job Description

• Provide direction and specialized assistance to the project for identifying project risks, quantification, levels of risks and mitigation measures.
• Work closely with project managers to recognize opportunities and mitigations to minimize risk exposure.
• Assess the risks associated with design and construction stage changes and schedule slippages.
• Stablish and oversee the project risks register to meet specific project requirements.
• Develop and deliver monthly risk reports to the client according to the PCM contract.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to evaluate the efficiency of risk mitigation measures and compliance with relevant standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand their expectations and ensure that risk management initiatives exceed their expectations.
• Undertake day-to-day risk management activities including identification, prioritization, register management, action planning and monitoring.
• Act as a liaison between the consultant project team and the client, he will handle all risk management matters and understand client requirements.
• Manage client expectations risk management related and ensure satisfaction.
• Facilitate and chair risk workshops with the Client, Consultant and Contractors.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Risk Manager should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
• over 15 years in risk management, particularly in mega road / highway construction projects in KSA.
• Knowledge of Middle East design and construction market, conditions of contract and contractual issues.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Savvy with specific risk management software for recording and reporting risks.
• Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
