Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore is seeking a Research Officer to join our lab and contribute to rapid single-molecule detection and sequencing projects.

You will conduct wet lab experiments, prepare findings for publications, and manage daily lab operations while collaborating with a skilled team. A strong background in molecular biology and data analysis is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field.
• Experience in lab research with yeast display, FACS, enzyme and DNA assays, protein expression and purification, nanopores or microscopy preferred.
• Proficiency in basic molecular and cell biology techniques (PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing, fluorescence microscopy, cloning).
• Strong data analysis and presentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to document clearly and contribute to team discussions.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct wet lab experiments including protein purification and assays using fluorescence microscopy and nanopore sequencing.

• Oversee day-to-day project operations and collaborate with team members to support lab activities.
• Manage daily lab tasks such as inventory and ordering.

Job description

This role requires an individual passionate about developing innovative rapid single-molecule point-of-care detection and sequencing technologies.

The Research Officer will be able to:

• Conduct wet lab experiments involving protein purification and assays using various techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and nanopore sequencing;
• Prepare research findings for publications, reports, and presentations;
• Undertake the day-to-day running of the project and collaborate with team members in supporting lab operation;
• Daily lab management tasks such as taking inventory and ordering;
• Conduct literature searches and analyse data, as well as assist in preparing progress reports;
• Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
• Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Experience with techniques related to microscopy, nanopore sequencing and nanopore data analysis, yeast display and FACS is a plus but not required.

Job Requirements
