The Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR) is seeking a Bioinformatics Specialist to join the Computational Transcriptomics lab. You will support software development, data management, and workflow optimization while collaborating with national initiatives and international consortia.

You will contribute to ongoing research projects and have the opportunity to lead your own research efforts, working in a supportive, team-oriented environment with strong emphasis on learning and skills

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Genomics, or a related discipline
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R
  • Knowledge of Nextflow or similar workflow managers
  • Highly organised with motivation to learn and contribute to the team
  • Excellent communication skills

Description
Research Officer (Bioinformatics Specialist/Software Engineer)

The lab of Computational Transcriptomics at the Genome Institute of Singapore (led by Dr Jonathan Göke) is recruiting a Bioinformatics Specialist to support the team’s software development and data management projects. The candidate will work together with other team members to optimise code, implement workflows, and support software maintenance. In addition, the candidate will be in charge of data management and documentation using both cloud and on-site compute and storage resources. The candidate will further have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research projects, and to lead their own research project.

The candidate will join an experienced team with expertise in collaborative methods development and large scale data generation and analysis. Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Genomics, or a related discipline
  • Good programming skills (Python, R, or other languages) and experience working with coding agents
  • Knowledge of nextflow or similar workflow managers is recommended
  • Candidates should be highly organised and have a strong motivation to learn and contribute to the team
  • Excellent communication skills
