Job summary

National University of Singapore seeks a Research Fellow in Power Electronics and Electrical Motor Drives to lead advanced projects at Kent Ridge Campus. The role focuses on electrification applications, high-performance motor drive control, and real‑time experimentation using HIL environments.

The successful candidate will design digital twins, develop optimal switching strategies, and manage lab activities while coordinating with PI and researchers.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with specialization in Electrical Motor Drives.
• Experience in power electronics, switching strategies, and control algorithms.
• Strong knowledge of power electronics, drives, and control.
• Experience with hardware testing and real-time simulation advantageous.
• Knowledge of electrical machines and their control.
• Proficiency with PSIM, PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Manage the research project with PI and team to study, evaluate, propose and innovate advanced power electronics solutions for electrification applications.
• Develop digital twins and real-time simulation studies using Typhoon HIL and conduct real-time experiments.
• Design and develop intelligent switching strategies, control techniques, and energy management for efficient operation.
• Perform HIL/real-time simulation studies and experiments to demonstrate performance and identify improvements.
• Analyze dynamic, thermal, and stability aspects of power electronics for motor drives and run system-level simulations.
• Innovate and test power electronics hardware, troubleshoot challenging problems.
• Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors; mentor students involved in the project.
