Job summary

National University of Singapore’s Electrical Machines & Drives Laboratory seeks a Laboratory Technologist to support day-to-day technical operations, maintain high-power equipment, and assist with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching labs at the Kent Ridge Campus.

You will coordinate safety checks, manage lab resources and vendors, and help with procurement, inventory, and user access. Strong attention to safety and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on lab experience with three-phase power equipment.
• Proficiency operating motor drives and power converters.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and high-voltage practices.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
• Experience with test & measurement instruments.

Responsibilities

• High-Power Equipment Operation & Maintenance—Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain three-phase high-power equipment and motor drive systems.
• Equipment Procurement, Asset Management & Write-Off—Manage lifecycle of lab equipment; liaise with vendors; track assets; process write-offs.
• Financial Administration—Process claims and reimbursements through the university financial system.
• Teaching Laboratory Preparation—Set up and check experimental rigs; update lab manuals and safety materials.
• Lab Safety & Regulatory Compliance—Safety coordinator; inspections; ensure compliance with high-voltage safety regs; train new users.
• Inventory & Consumables Management—Monitor stocks; raise purchase orders to replenish.
• Lab Access & User Administration—Manage access accounts; inductions; support visiting researchers.
