Job summary

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a Research Associate to advance additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering.

The role focuses on designing, fabricating, and validating advanced three-dimensional printed structures and biomedical devices, including porous scaffolds, bioactive materials, and patient-specific solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Mechanical/Biomedical/Materials).
• Experience in additive manufacturing and computational design.
• Experience in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or biomedical applications.
• Experience with materials characterization, mechanical testing, microscopy, and image analysis.
• Knowledge of CAD, numerical modelling, optimization, or AI-assisted design is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Strong publication record and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering.
• Design and optimize 3D printed structures using CAD, numerical modelling, data-driven optimization, and AI-assisted methods.
• Develop and characterize bioactive polymeric, ceramic, or composite materials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
• Plan and perform additive manufacturing experiments, including process optimization, mechanical testing, and biological evaluation.
• Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports, journal publications, and research presentations.
• Collaborate with researchers, students, clinicians, and industrial partners to support interdisciplinary research.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
