Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore's Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) invites applications for a Research Scientist to advance a laser additive manufacturing project in collaboration with an industrial partner.

You will lead experiments, meet milestones, and communicate progress to industry and funding agencies. A strong background in mechanical/materials engineering and AM is required; entry-level candidates welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, materials or manufacturing engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in engineering research / additive manufacturing.
• Experience with microstructural characterization and mechanical testing.
• Experience in laser directed energy deposition additive manufacturing.

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) is a research centre conducting fundamental and applied research in all aspects related to additive manufacturing. The Research Scientist is expected to help the principal investigator to carry out a research project on laser additive manufacturing in collaboration with an industrial partner.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the project with the defined milestones and deliverables.
• Carry out hands‑on experiments to meet deliverables and KPIs.
• Write and prepare communications content and interface with the industry and funding agency.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor qualification degree in mechanical, materials or manufacturing engineering or related field
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in engineering research / technical hands‑on experience in additive manufacturing or related field
• Proficiency in experimental skills in microstructural characterization, including metallograph and EBSD.
• Proficiency in experimental skills in mechanical testing, such as hardness testing.
• Demonstrated experience in laser directed energy deposition additive manufacturing.
• Knowledge of the relationship between microstructures and mechanical properties of metallic materials.
• Good written and oral communication skills
